Looking to the Future

Have you ever wondered what is needed to prepare Sonoma County’s economy for the future? In 2014 and 2015, the NExT Economy Project (NExT) helped our local business, non-profit, and public sector leaders to identify and understand future trends in Sonoma County.

Next Economy Project

Special-Reports-NExT-CoverThe Next Economy Project (NExT) was Sonoma County’s first intentional effort to identify and understand how future trends will affect the economy of Sonoma County in the next ten years and beyond.

Beginning in October 2014, a group of roughly 40 executives identified by their employers as future business leaders in Sonoma County were selected to form the nucleus of the NExT Economy Project. Participants were placed into groups, representative of Sonoma County’s eight key industries—food/agriculture, construction, manufacturing, art, education, workforce, tourism and healthcare—to hear from experts about emerging technologies and trends.

By taking a proactive approach, our business community, non-profits and public sector leaders can be better prepared to understand and respond to future changes affecting our local economy, job base and quality of life in Sonoma County.
