Santa Rosa, CA – April 14, 2021 – The Sonoma County Economic Development Board (EDB) is virtually hosting Economic Development Week from May 3-7, 2021 to celebrate the positive contributions of economic development and its important role in our local community. Sonoma County will be joining several counties and cities who will also be hosting and celebrating economic development throughout the month of May.
Sonoma County businesses are invited to participate in a series of free workshops conducted by the EDB Business Assistance Team. Workshops are geared for both startup and mature businesses and include elements of business recovery and considerations for creating more resilient businesses. Workshop topics include:
- Market Research and Introduction to Digital Marketing
- Start Your Business
- Finance Your Business
- Employee Reskilling and Workforce Opportunities
“For Sonoma County, Economic Development Week is more than celebrating economic development’s role in our community. It is also about our economic and community recovery from the pandemic and natural disasters. This is why we are incorporating elements of resiliency into our workshops to help better prepare for the future and develop a stronger and more resilient economy,” said EDB Executive Director, Sheba Person-Whitley.
Businesses are also invited to participate in Virtual Corridor Walks with the Supervisors. Each County Supervisor will be hosting a Virtual Corridor Walk to discuss economic development projects and updates in their district. Supervisors will also be joined by the EDB Business Assistance Team to discuss recovery and resiliency resources available to businesses now. Participants will have an opportunity to submit questions and comments during each event.
This will be the EDB’s third year of participation in the National Economic Development Celebrations in May. Now in its sixth year, National Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers, in 2016 to recognize the unique role that economic development has in creating vibrant communities with strong economies.
